CLIENT: MUSEUM VERSUS PRIVATE CONTRACT
SA EVM Conservation and Digitalisation Centre Kanut
The starting point of conservation often depends on the planned function of the object after the task has been completed and what the keeping conditions would be like as well as which value of the piece is considered the worthiest. In order to illustrate the differences the poster deals with two objects of conservation that are similar in form but quite different in content. One of these objects is a doll that has a really exciting story and that became an exhibit at the Estonian History Museum’s exhibition A State on a Chessboard. The German Occupation in Estonia in 1941-1944. The other object is the doll Tiiu that is in private possession and has a great emotional importance to its owner who commissioned the conservation.
